Global Trader is a text-based game about trading goods, committing crimes, writing songs, and making terrible decisions across 13 European cities.

It started as a strange experiment in Scriptable, an iOS automation app meant for widgets and small scripts. The entire game ran through native Alert() dialogs on an iPhone — menus, stories, choices, everything.

~17,000 lines of JavaScript later, the experiment had turned into a full system-driven text adventure. No graphics. No external libraries. Just text and decisions.

The writing is the game

Every system produces narrative output — atmospheric descriptions, procedural encounters, strange characters, and outcomes that range from mildly successful to catastrophically stupid.

You could think of it as a life simulation where the protagonist mostly develops in the wrong direction.
